WHITEHORSE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT VISION AND DEVELOPMENT PLAN

LPS AVIA was retained to prepare a Vision and Airport Development Plan for Whitehorse International Airport, Capital of the Yukon Territory. The plan addressed airport requirements over the short, medium and long term planning horizons. The study included assessment of competitive airports in Alaska and the Canadian arctic, the enroute needs of NORPAC and POLAR route traffic, destination marketing and cruise ship tourism.

The Recommended Plan focussed on upgrading airport infrastructure to accommodate Code-E wide-body international aircraft operations and included the addition of an new international wing to the air terminal building, runway upgrading, additional taxiways, apron expansion, new access roads and parking, utilities and drainage, air navigation and electronic landing systems, ATC/FSS services; and commercial real estate development.
