ALLENBARNETT, ASSOCIATE, AIR TRAFFIC SERVICES

Mr. Barnett has over 40 years experience in Air Traffic Control, Airport Management, and Airport Certification. Mr. Barnett served as Nav Canada’s Air Traffic Services Manager at the ATC Tower/Terminal Control Complex at Toronto Pearson International Airport. This operation included 5 runways and 425,000 annual movements at the airport. He was involved in the establishment of collaborative air traffic management as an enhancement to the control of air traffic and was responsible for overseeing the opening of the Canada’s National Operations Centre in Ottawa when it assumed responsibility for air traffic management nationally. He was the Canadian representative for the FAA Collaborative Decision Making Initiative which resulted in the establishment of formal offload routes through Canadian airspace over Southern Ontario and Quebec. He was involved in the shift from Air Traffic Control to Air Traffic Management and development of collaborative tools for ATM. Mr. Barnett participated in development of Canada’s first radar control training simulator installed at Montreal International Airport where he trained both domestic and international controllers. Since retiring from NAV Canada Mr. Barnett has provided specialty consulting services to airports in the Caribbean. This has included being an Airport Manager and Aviation Advisor in the West Indies. He produced and implemented a Flight Information Service, a Safety Management System and established processes and manuals for the Airport, Air Traffic and Meteorological Services at the Ambergris Cay Airport in the Turks and Caicos Islands. He has also been part of greenfield projects in the Caribbean. Since joining LPS AVIA in 2012, Mr. Barnett has been involved in a variety of initiatives, most recently development of a safety management system for a major energy company aerodrome.
